BMW have just released news of the i8 Spyder concept, set to go in to production in 2015.
The convertible version of the i8 is going to show itself off at the upcoming Beijing motor show, and somehow I doubt people will need to know any sort of details before they begin to drool.
I’ll give them to you anyway- it’s an updated version with a shorter wheel base and a 6 mile drop in it’s mpg. I’m sure customers will be outraged that it only does 94mpg, compared to the hard top’s 100. It’s all due to the electric/petrol power hybrid that not only give you unbelievable fuel economy, but BMW also claim it’ll do about 20 miles just on the battery.
Economy does not mean it goes like a Gee Whizz though- it’s billed to do 0-60 in 5 seconds, and have a top speed of 155mph. The 3-cylinder turbo engine combined with the electric motor produces just under 350bhp too.
That means BMW seem to have done pretty much everything with this- good looking, economical and powerful. The price must be sky high though, surely? It’s likely to be in the region of £80,000. A big chunk of money, but still suprisingly cheap considering if you put it in Star Wars it wouldn’t look out of place.
